1 – Mehrangarh Fort

  • Located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, is one of the largest forts in India.
  • It is believed to have been Built around 1460 by Rao Jodha, the chief of the Rathore clan.

2 – Red Fort

  • Constructed in 1639 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.
  • It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for nearly 200 years, until 1857.

3 – Bhujia Fort

  • Located in Bhuj, the district of Kutch, Gujarat built on Bhujia Hill.
  • Construction of Bhujia fort was started by Rao Godji I (1715–1718) ruler of Kingdom of Kutch.
  • However, the major work and completion was done during the rule of his son, Deshalji I (1718–1741).

4 – Gwalior Fort

  • Built in 8th-century in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The present-day fort consists of a defensive structure and two main palaces, Gujari Mahal and Man Mandir, built by Man Singh Tomar (reigned 1486-1516 CE).
  • The oldest record of “zero” in the world was found in a small temple, which is located on the way to the top.

5 – Amer Fort

  • Amer Fort is located in Amer, Rajasthan, India.
  • The fort is originally believed to have been built by Raja Man Singh during 967 AD.

6 – Jaisalmer Fort

  • It is situated in the city of Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
  • It was built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal, from whom it derives its name.

7 – Jhansi Fort

  • Located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Built by Bir Singh Ju Deo, the king of Orcha in the year 1613.
  • This Indian fort is situated in a rocky hill called Bangra in Jhansi.

8 – Chittor Fort

  • Built By: Chitrangada Mori
  • It is a World Heritage Site.
  • The fort was the capital of Mewar and is today situated in the Chittorgarh town.

9 -Orchha Fort

  • Located in the Orchha town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
  • It was built following the founding of the Orchha State in 1501 AD by Rudra Pratap Singh (r. 1501–1531).

10 – Golkonda Fort

  • Located in Hyderabad, Telangana
  • Construction Completed: 1600s
  • Golkonda Fort was first built by the Kakatiya dynasty.
  • It was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c.1518–1687).
