1.Mike Pompeo becomes US Secretary of State
Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Mike Pompeo has been sworn in as America’s 70th Secretary of State.
He replaced Rex Tillerson, who was fired by President Trump.
2. National Intellectual Property Award conferred on CSIR
´The Council of Scientific and Industrial research (CSIR) has been awarded the 2018 National Intellectual Property Award in the top R&D institution for patents and commercialisation category.
´Director General of CSIR is Dr Girish Sahni .
3.Indu Malhotra sworn in as a Supreme Court Judge
´Senior Advocate, Indu Malhotra administered the oath of office as a Supreme Court judge by the Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra.
´She is the first woman to become a judge of the Supreme Court directly from the bar.
´In 1989, justice Fathima Beevi was the first woman judge of the apex court.
